                                                                                                                                    PAPER TASK

Newspaper is one of mass media that still exists in this digital era. Each country around the world already has this kind of mass media whether it is accounted as a famous newspaper or not. The news inside is always actual, up to date and trusted by many people.
Nowadays, Indonesian and British newspaper business are growth rapidly. We can see that there is a variety of newspaper that has published in Indonesia and Britain such as Surya, Jakarta Post, Radar Surabaya, Kompas, Jawa Pos, The Times, The Guardian, The Daily News, Telegraph and many others. There are some factors comparing Jawa pos as an Indonesian newspaper and The Times as a British newspaper. At first, Both Jawa Pos and The Times are accounted as a famous and most influential daily newspaper in their country. Besides, The Times is accounted as one of Britain’s big three newspaper together with the Guardian and The Daily Telegraph, while, Jawa Pos has his big competitor in Indonesia that is Kompas newspaper. Moreover, Jawa Pos and The Times are the oldest newspaper in their country too. In spite of that fact, The Times is the originator of the widely used Times News Roman typeface and it was originally developed by Stanley Morison, a British historian printing.
The Times was founded by John Walter on the first January in 1785, as The Daily Universal Register and became The Times on January 1, 1788, whereas Jawa Pos was established by Susueno Tedjo or The Chung Shen in the first of July in 1949, as Djava-Post. We can see that The Times was gone earlier before Jawa Pos.
The Chung Shen was a movie ads employee in one of Movie Theater in Surabaya. He had to advertise a movie in newspaper every day, so that she became interested in making her own newspaper. After Jawa Pos became successful; she established another newspaper that is Hwa Chiao Shen, a mandarin newspaper, and de Vrije Pers, a Dutch newspaper.  The Chung Shen business was not going smoothly all the time. In the end of 1970s, her income was falling away sharply. Her previous newspaper was already retired. So that, The Chung Shen decided to market Jawa Pos to the director of Tempo magazine. Besides, three of her son and daughter decided to live in London, England and they didn’t want to continue her mother’s business.
