English
department has a unique program, it is English Week which is held by HMJ of
English department. English week provides several competitions. Those are
storytelling, news casting, alliance quest, debate competition and speech competition.
Every class should point someone as a representative from their class in each
competition there. Many students participate in this program especially for
freshmen because they are obligated to join it.
English
Week program has different theme each year, and vintage theme was chosen for
this year. Some students expressed their taste of fashion for this theme and British
fashion was the icon of their fashion since 60s until 90s.

The
atmosphere was very attractive. The audience was yelling all the time. They
yelled happily to enliven the program. One of my friends came and asked to take
some pictures with a mascot of program. She was totally got dressed very well.
She was wearing a dark green coat, a black skirt and a small hat adhered in her
left-side of her head. She used pink lipstick too. When we came closer to her,
I was thinking that she could be weird. She has big eyes. If she smiled, she
might be smiling widely as a clown usually does. So I talked to my friend that
I was very scared. I apologized to her that I was being a coward. So I kept
away from that mascot. I watched my friends took a picture with her from far
away and I envied her because she has a good memory in this English Week
program. I had been speaking to myself that I should be brave to defeat my
scared. No one could defeat it except me, myself.

On
the way of Joglo, I saw her. She was wearing a different clothes and it was
unique too. I came near her slowly with my friends. I had already Goosebumps
then. I could not have imagined how she smiled to me. It might be a spooky
smile like a Joker has, Batman’s enemy, in the knight rider movie. I thought
she was pretty that scary but I was wrong. She was friendly like others. It was
just her costume which seemed weird but unique at the same time. I accosted her
and asked, “Can I take a photo with you?” She was directly answered, “Sure”.
We
took a photo then. She was standing next to me. When she smiled, I saw that she
really had a wide mouth. I was lucky because she was not using lipstick. So I
just got little bit scared. I believed that it might be over soon.
I
was happy for myself then because my mission was already success. In spite of
that, the English Program was quiet fun. Besides, I knew that there were many
kinds of people, who got dressed nicely there and I could not judge them
directly as I want because He or she may be different person from what I have
thought before.
